The kingdom of the elephants; the kingdom of the monkeys. (written and edited by Richard Jr Ocaya)

In the time of Anansi the spider, lived the kingdom of the elephants. The elephants were majestic in their glory. Their kingdom had no lack and their civilization had no governance simply because there was no need for it. The elephants knew morality and practiced it because of their richness in self-awareness and because the ancestors watched with a loving eye caring for all their needs and want. They knew of evil and had no desire for it in their heart and their speech. For it is said and known amongst the elephants, “The outpouring of words reveal the deeds of the heart.” All you could hear in the serene atmosphere in the kingdom of the elephants was gentle and loving speech. Harmony amongst them was not conscious or were the good deeds done amongst them expected to be repaid by the recipient. They saw each other as they saw themselves. A good deed to the other is a good deed to the self, in this case, the elephants. Everything about the elephants and the kingdom was elegant. The crowns and gowns of the males flowed with creativity blessed by the ancestors. Their gold bracelets and necklaces flowed with the wind and so elevated the prideful prowl of their mighty stampedes. Their gold isometric tattoos on their majestic grey bodies further elevated them. Their tusks as bright as the glory of the sun boasted their cleanliness. They fell nothing short of beauty. The females swayed in garments as glorious as the color of the fruits of life. The scribed symbols on their bodies speaking the stories of eternity within them spoke of the divineness of them. Their nose rings of copper as reflective as the finest wine spoke of their intoxicating beauty on eyes not worthy and capable laying upon them. Their eyes as deep and vast as the universe itself with the gleam as bright as the stars within galaxies. They were nothing short of the descendants of omnipotence.

The thing about the elephants was this; they never knew of their divine nature. It was just the way of life to them. It was normal, if normal is the word fitting, to them. They lived this way with no desire to live in any other way. No they were not ignorant, the kingdom of the elephants had the finest philosophers and teachers; instead it was the monkeys that were. The elephants knew the evils of the kingdom of the monkeys. They knew their barbaric actions amongst themselves. The elephants knew of the scams and wicked behaviors they do to each other. They saw how they stole from each other, slept with their brother’s wives and slept with their sister’s husbands. They saw how much lack they had. Because of this the elephants looked at the kingdom of the monkeys with constant pity. “How could they live like this. Oh our ancestors, may you also show the favor you show us to the kingdom of the monkeys.” The elephants would say in their hearts.

Behind the scenes, and behind the society of the elephants there was the elect of the elephants, chosen by the ancestors to govern and to be the mediators of the elephants. These elects were a part of the society of the elephants and never revealed their roles as mediators between them and the divine to the unelected elephants which was the majority. The elect knew of their divine nature as elephants. They knew of their omnipotence. They knew of their superiority. They knew that they were set apart from all and every race. But they kept this secret from the society of the elephants. Anyway, the elect heard the prayers of the heart of their fellow, the thoughts of their fellow, the emotions of their fellow and spiritual state of their fellow. What they did with all that knowledge was that they brought it to their ancestors on behalf of their fellow. The ancestors would give instruction based on those things and the elect would act on the instruction subtly governing the direction of the elephants also based on those things. One of them is the prayers and concerns of the kingdom of the monkeys.

“We promise you our children, you cannot share with the monkeys. You are not like the monkeys. The monkeys will only use what we bless you with to curse you and bring you to a state not deserving of you,” the ancestors said. This prayer has been a major concern to the elect and the divine because they could see the genuine distress in the elephants. They could feel the guilt in the elephants because of their providence in comparison to the lack in the kingdom of the monkeys. Because of this the ancestors decided that they will share an ounce of the wisdom they pass through the mediators to the kingdom of the elephants with the monkeys. “Go to their leader and share with them what we have given you to share.” The elect did as instructed and proceeded to the kingdom of the monkeys. The kingdom of the monkeys had no structure and rule. There was no burial sites or places of worship. There was no decency nor morality. The kingdom was sandy and rocky with homes for caves. Fire was their pinnacle in terms of achievement. The monkeys didn't live in harmony, they beat each other, killed each other, harassed each other and stole from each other. The elect had no way in seeing who the leader was because for the monkeys even deciding amongst themselves who the leader could be would be beyond their scope of thinking. The elect watched the havoc. At times, quite frequently, sticks and stones were thrown at them. Infants to elder alike mocked and insulted the big trunk of the elephants. They mocked and insulted the glory of their size. They mocked and insulted their tusks. No honor had they received in their glory and splendor except mockery and shame. The elect paid no mind because they still then knew themselves. The elect had to choose and so they did. They chose the littlest of them all, they knew infants had no wisdom until it had the experiences and guidance’s of its elderly and environment.

The elect took twelve infants. They taught them and showed them with what they could fathom all about civil living and the ambition of aiming toward a common goal, in this case harmonious development with and among themselves. The elect completed their job years later and left their students to deal with their kingdom. The elect interfered no longer in monkey business and so left for their own.

Years, many years later. There came a larger group of monkey elect coming with thanks and a plea to help govern the elephant’s business with their sound doctrine. And so thus the prophecy of their ancestors begun.

The End
